MEETING
September 11, 2006 @ 7 p.m.
East Providence Historical Society
The Hunt House Museum
Hunt’s Mills Road, East Providence, RI

PROGRAM:  We will have a very short business meeting after which we will be given a tour of the historic Hunt House, home and headquarters of the East Providence Historical Society.  Members will have the opportunity to view a special exhibit on the Rumford Chemical Company and Rumford Baking Powder.  This is a very special and important collection of memorabilia and should not be missed.

Also, many years ago, SNEADA provided funds to the society for the purchase of a period table to help furnish one of the rooms in the house.  This table is prominently displayed and will be especially pointed out.

Website:  www.ephist.org/visit.htm              Telephone:  401-438-1750

Special Instructions:  Please bring a folding chair.

DIRECTIONS:  The Hunt House Museum is located on Hunt’s Mills Road in East Providence off Rt. 114A near the Rhode Island/Massachusetts border at the banks of the Ten Mile River.

From the North:  Follow Pawtucket Ave. (Rt. 114) going South to the fork in the road where Rt. 114A splits from Rt. 114.   Pawtucket Ave. (Rt.114) goes right, you want to bear left and follow Rt. 114A which is now Pleasant Street.  About .5 mile after the split, just before the concrete bridge over the Ten Mile River, you will see our sign on the right.  Follow the narrow road into the park until you come to the Hunt House Museum on your right.

From the South:  From Rt. 44 (Taunton Ave.) East or West take Rt. 114A North, there is an Isuzu dealership at the intersection.  You are now on Fall River Ave.  Follow it a little over .5 mile and cross the concrete bridge over the Ten Mile River.  Past the bridge you will see our sign on your left.  Follow the narrow road into the park until you come to the Hunt House Museum on your right.

BROCHURES:  Please contact Lois Torman with any changes from your listing in last year’s membership brochure (changes in e-mail address; telephone numbers; name changes, etc.)  Contact Lois at losamtor@cox.net ; by mail: 45 Welfare Avenue, Cranston, RI  02910; or by telephone:  401-781-2650.  Please send brochure changes as soon as possible!

ENDOWMENT: Our June general meeting took place aboard the Bay Queen—on a lovely sunny day perfect for a SNEADA outing!  At this meeting, it was voted on and approved that $1,500 was to be presented to Federal Blues of Warren. Federal Blues is an organization committed to the restoration of the Town of Warren’s two historic 1760 French bronze cannons.   The two cannons which had participated in the 1778 Battle of Rhode Island had been stolen in 1981 and severely vandalized.  They were recovered in 1994 and are now in the process of restoration.  Mr. Ed Theberge of the Federal Blues organization will be on hand at our October SNEADA meeting.  He will be a guest speaker on the topic of Breweriana.

DUES DUE:  It is also membership renewal time.  Soon, you will be receiving more information about renewing your membership.  The sooner you respond, the easier it is for our hardworking volunteers to update membership and financial records, website listings and to publish your business information in the brochures.  Member dues for the 2006-2007 year are $70.  Please make your check payable to SNEADA and mail to:
