Monday, October 4, 2004 at 7 p.m.
New England Wireless and Steam Museum
1300 Frenchtown Road
East Greenwich, RI
PROGRAM: Our October meeting will take place at the New England Wireless and Steam Museum. In addition to housing an extensive wireless radio collection, this museum is also home to the Massie Wireless System Station built in 1907. It is the oldest surviving wireless system in the world. The museum also has a collection of stationary steam engines that includes the only George H. Corliss engine running under steam today. Check out their website http://usersids.net/~news/ Please join us for an interesting and informative meeting.
NEW MEMBERS: We would like to extend a warm welcome to our two new members, voted in at our September meeting: Sherril Cyr of Now and Then Antiques, and Janice Andrews.
PROPOSED BY-LAWS AMENDMENTS DISCUSSION: As you know by now, several By-Laws amendments were submitted by the board at the September meeting for general membership's review and approval. In keeping with our By-Laws on considering any amendments, our October meeting will include a discussion of those proposed changes. We will then vote on the amendments at our November meeting. The board is proposing these amendments in order to further clarify how we operate, make our board and committee work and communications even more effective, and in one case, bring our membership requirements up-to-date with current RI tax regulations. Please take a moment to look over these amendments (received with last month's newsletter.) We welcome your comments.
