MEETING
Monday, May 14, 2007 @ 7 p.m.
At New Bedford Whaling Museum
18 Johnny Cake Hill, New Bedford, MA
(Please Note Special Date)
PROGRAM – If you have never visited this remarkable museum, then this is your golden opportunity. What you will see is an outstanding collection of nautical folk art and artifacts, incredible works of scrimshaw and impressive collections of paintings, glassware and decorative arts. You can actually climb aboard the “Lagoda”—the world’s largest ship model! Your tour will be self-guided so ample time will be provided to view the collections at your leisure. Afterwards, we will gather in the comfortable “San Fransisco” room for our general business meeting. This will be SNEADA’s premier meeting of the year. Hope to see you there. Feel free to bring guests—especially antique dealers!
Directions from RI and CT: Rte. 195 East to Rte. 18 South. (Exit 15 in downtown New Bedford) – Right at first light. You can also call the museum at 1-508-997-0046 for recorded directions. Public parking is available on the street, and there is a garage one block on the right.
If you plan to attend this exciting meeting, why not spend the day in New Bedford! Close by to the museum and historic district are two large antique co-ops: Acushnet River Antiques and the New Bedford Antique Center at the Cove. Many of our fellow members have booths in both of these shops. Also, New Bedford boasts many fine restaurants featuring seafood and Portuguese cuisine. For more information, you may call the Office of Tourism at 1-800-508-5353.
BROCHURES – Members with shops who cannot make monthly meetings may request brochures. Let Lois Torman know, and she will mail you a packet of brochures.
