Monday, May 5, 2003 at 7:30 p.m.
Sheraton Airport Hotel
Waterford Room (conference center area)
1850 Post Road, Warwick, RI
PROGRAM - Seven Steps to a Successful Sale - SNEADA
is fortunate to have as our May speaker, Kathy Tarr of Wenham,
Massachusetts. Ms. Tarr is a part-time antiques dealer, but just
as relevant is her other career as a professional sales trainer
to mortgage brokers. Her talk Seven Steps to Successful
Sales is actually a recently-developed mini-course encompassing
human dynamics and professional conduct useful in all salesmanship,
as well as topics specific to antiques sales, including display
and lighting. Those who have seen Kathy Tarr in action expound
on her dynamism and ability to send dealers off with her infectious
enthusiasm. If successful sales are your goal, Kathy Tarr is a
speaker who is not to be missed.
April Meeting - The April meeting featuring Ken
Gloss of the Brattle Book Shop in Boston had to be canceled at
the last minute due to hazardous driving conditions. This had
the makings of a great program and will be rescheduled as soon
as possible.
Spring Show at Providence Country Day School - The
show turned out to be a success for most dealers, as we had a
very respectable gate of over 1,700 visitors. Congratulations
and thank you to Katie Corcoran, Charlie McCaughey, Joyce Nelson,
Phil and Mary Green, the rest of the PCD committee and others
who helped pull it together.
Membership - Bob Anderson has sent postcards to
all members asking for verification on the date you first joined
SNEADA. Please help Bob complete this project by checking the
date shown on the card and letting Bob know if it is incorrect.
Web Site - We are reworking the message board this
month to make it more user-friendly. We will keep you posted.
The number of hits the site is getting is increasing
steadily, as is our exposure. Contact member Dianne Dolphin at
231-4462 or e-mail her at d_dolphin@att.net if you have any questions.
Looking Ahead - Our June potluck dinner will be
a special evening. At this meeting, we will take a look back at
SNEADAs origins and early years. We are planning to recognize
members who have belonged for 25 years or more and a special lifetime
membership guest. Time and place: to be announced.
Remember, for those of you with e-mail capacity,
you will now get your newsletter by e-mail. Please notify Lilly
