Sheraton Airport Hotel
Waterford Room (conference center area)
1850 Post Road
Warwick, RI
PROGRAM: The monthly meeting for March will be held on Monday, March 1 at
7:30 p.m. Our guest speaker will be Bill Dixon who will give a
presentation titled, "the Development of Lighting from 500 BC through 1879." Bill will be discussing the technological development of lighting devices and will have on display examples from his collection. Mr. Dixon is a past president and active member of the Rushlight Club which is one of the oldest organizations dedicated to the study of a single phase of antiquity.
WEB SITE - We will be adding information and a coupon for the March show and photographs from the CCRI show to the site. We will also be working on putting the member listing from our updated brochure onto the web site. Members who have their own web sites listed in the brochure will get a link from the SNEADA site to their web site. Listing on the web site is a great way for members to get additional exposure, as the web site gets approximately 1,200 to 1,300 page requests per month. Several members have gotten calls resulting in business. If for any reason you DO NOT wish your brochure listing to be put on the web site, contact Diane Dolphin at 401-231-4462 or D_Dolphin@att.net.
PCD Spring Show - We are fast approaching our annual spring antiques show to be held on March 20 and 21 at the Providence Country Day School. Don't forget, Peel n' Stick Party at Village Antiques on Thursday, February 26 at
7 p.m. Plan to attend-Charley McCaughey will be delighting his guests with
special treats from his own culinary repertoire. (Actually, he just asked that we mention he will be doing the cooking!) For more information and/or directions, call Charley at 401-647-7780. Also, enclosed please find your complimentary admission card for the PCD Spring Antiques show.
URGENT NEED FOR PORTERS - We are in need of teenagers to act as porters for both our upcoming PCD show and next year's CCRI show. Ideally, we're looking for family members and/or friends of a SNEADA member, together with an adult who can direct and supervise them. If you have teen kids, nephews or grandkids who are interested, please contact Charlie McCaughey for the PCD show at 401-647-7780 and Charlie McCarthy (CCRI show) 401-885-1435.
CCRI Holiday Show - Door prize winners from the last holiday show are: Karen Kupersmith of East Greenwich, RI and Bernard Fishman of Hope, Rhode Island.
WHAT DO YOU THINK OF A THIRD SHOW? - We are currently exploring the idea of having a third show for members. This would probably be a one-day show and possibly outdoors during one of the summer months. WOULD YOU BE INTERESTED . . . in exhibiting at a one-day show sometime in the early summer to early fall period? More specifically, in a one-day outdoor show in July? PLEASE LET US KNOW - Call the McCaugheys at 647-7780 or Diane Dolphin at 231-4462.
WELCOME - to our new members. The following members were voted in at our February meeting. We want to extend a warm welcome to: John T. Pierce and Linda Pierce of John T. Pierce Antiques & Collectibles; Glenn Grenier of Heart's Desire Antiques; and Robert F. Troiano of Providence Appraisal Collaborative. Respectfully submitted,
