The next general meeting of SNEADA will be held May 5th at 7:00 p.m. at the Joy Homestead. The Joy House, property of the Cranston Historical Society, is a red-gambrel roofed 18th-century cottage which sits “side-to-the-road.”
It is furnished with period antiques typical of a hard-working farming family living about the time of the American Revolution. On exhibit are a number of pieces of early furniture which are on loan from the Cranston Historical Society. The house also has some important historical connections.
Our visit will be a wonderful chance to experience this once-common house type and see for ourselves the charming coziness for which these cottages are famous.
(The house has its own small entry road for parking and the Cedarcrest Nursing Home across the street serves as a landmark.)
